Honeymoon Adventures in Costa Rica: A Drone’s-Eye View

Drone Video at El Mangroove Hotel

Our honeymoon to Costa Rica was a trip filled with unexpected challenges and breathtaking discoveries. The journey began with a bit of a hiccup—my luggage was lost by the airline, leaving me without some of my essential gear. This setback limited the amount of time I could spend flying my DJI Mavic Pro, but it didn’t dampen the experience of exploring such a beautiful country.

Once I finally got my drone in the air, the view was nothing short of spectacular. We were staying in a predominantly rural area, surrounded by lush landscapes and vibrant local life. Flying over the town nearby was a highlight; it was fascinating to see the day-to-day lives of the people who lived and worked there. The authenticity of the town, with its charm and affordability, made it far more exciting to explore than the resort itself. I wish I was vlogging my trips at this time, because this trip to Costa Rica was one to remember.

I managed to capture some incredible footage around the bay where El Mangroove Hotel is located, part of the Marriott Collection. The serene waters and natural beauty of the area made for a great flying experience, even if my time in the air was shorter than I would have liked.

Staying at El Mangroove was a pleasure, and it only deepened my appreciation for Costa Rica. The capital city, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. It felt refreshingly authentic, largely untouched by the heavy hand of western tourism—at least for now. I’m already looking forward to the day I can return to this incredible country and explore even more of its hidden gems. Photos below by Brandon Damon.
